New deviantWEAR and One MILLION Dollhairs!

Journal Entry: Fri May 2, 2008, 11:40 AM

Bringing the heat!

Team deviantWEAR is at it again! Bringing you four brand spankin' new designs for the spring season. It's the time of year for color, and colors abound in this release. We're blinding you with rays of hot pink, fields of bright yellow, and splashes of orange. If you don't like at least one of our new shirts, we'll give you a million dollhairs. ONE MEEEELION! Show your deviantART pride and check out the tees. Sported by our smokin' hot models, these shirts are guaranteed to put a little spring in your step as well.

Wireless
Technology is a wonderful thing. Electricity brings us light and power, calculators let us speed through math homework, and e-mail means we can write to Grandma without using a stamp. But one of our favorite technological advances has been the advent of wireless technology. There are no boundaries when you unplug and go wild. You'll be better off in the Wireless shirt.

Solid Gold
Elements combine as this soaring eagle rises from the ashes to produce something so awesome it can only be called Solid Gold.

Secret Garden
Nestled away in your imagination is a place of serenity and peace. Composed of all things good, this Secret Garden is home to a feeling of tranquility that can only truly be achieved while wearing this shirt.

Eternal
Hardcore. Dedicated. Talented. Persistent. Innovative. Creative. Dramatic. In other words, "artist for life, deviant 'til death.'

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 29, 2008, 5:32 PM

Update: Winners announced!

Congratulations to =EzzyGezzy for being deemed the most $lolly-like! That's quite an accomplishment and definitely something to write home about. As our grand-prize winner, =EzzyGezzy will be awarded a deviantWEAR shirt of her choice, as well as a deviantART sticker pack and dA keychain.

deviantWEAR would like to thank all of our participants, each of whom will be receiving a free one-month subscription to the site. It pays to participate!

Keep an eye on this journal for the latest deviantWEAR happenings. ;)

No more clowning around!

There once was a jolly big clown,
Who was mayor of an Internet town.
He joked and laughed at all things weird,
And even grew a yeti beard.
He loves mudkips (we don't know why),
He'd also love if you gave face painting a try!

Time is of the essence as the end date for $lolly's face painting contest is quickly drawing to a close. We've had four clown-tastic entries thus far, but there's still time for you to join in on the fuuuuuun!

So I herd you leik face painting? If that's the case, you're in luck.

To participate, use any face painting materials available to you (please, nothing permanent) and prepare your best $lolly impersonation. All submissions should be uploaded as Scraps. When done, comment in this journal with your entry link. The contest concludes on April 18th at 11:59 PM Pacific and winners will be selected shortly thereafter. Best of all, prizes will be awarded based on creativity, originality, and presentation. The grand prize winner will receive a free Clown Town shirt and other deviantWEAR goodies. Runners-up will also receive fancy deviantWEAR swag.

Participating in this contest will bring MOAR joy to your life.

One painted face > thousands of mudkips.

Trust us. We know all.

No clowning around! Clown Town is BACK!

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 10, 2008, 6:56 PM

Clown-tastic, it's back!!

:star: IT'S BACK!

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Clown!
Clown who?
Clown for the count!

But wait! Clown for the count no more! deviantWEAR is happy to announce that Clown Town has been reprinted, is back in stock, and ready to be added to your wardrobe!

:star: CONTEST TIME!

To celebrate this clown-tastic occasion, deviantWEAR is holding a $lolly face painting contest. To participate, deviants simply need to decorate their faces to mimic everyone's favorite community clown and inspiration for our Clown Town shirt.

The rules are easygoing. Participants may use any materials available to them (paint or otherwise). All we ask is that you use your best judgment and don't do anything your Mom wouldn't approve of. ;)

All submissions should be uploaded as Scraps. Once done, comment in this journal with your entry link. The contest concludes on April 18th at 11:59 PM Pacific and winners will be selected shortly thereafter.

Prizes will be awarded based on creativity, originality, and presentation. The grand prize winner will receive a free Clown Town shirt and other deviantWEAR goodies. Runners-up will also receive fancy deviantWEAR swag.

If you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to ask.

:star: CONCLUSION TIME

Act quickly. Don't end up down for the count before you've had the opportunity to own a little piece of $lolly. :boogie:

deviantWEAR Designer Interview with a-r

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 4, 2008, 6:36 PM

Augusto's in the hot seat!

As a Creative team member for nearly two and a half years, Augusto Reis (aka ¢a-r) has been one of the driving forces behind the deviantWEAR designs that we’ve come to know and love. Responsible for a few of deviantWEAR's best selling items, I recently chatted with ¢a-r to learn more about what makes him tick.

$Heidi: You've been a deviant since November 2002 and a Creative staff member since December 2005. Do you remember how you first stumbled upon deviantART?

¢a-r: ~Blinky1, ~mudsley, ~bryn, ~geezpot, myself and a few other guys used to participate and chat at this site called bloomonkey.com that *phayce was also part of. ~bryn introduced us to this art website where we could upload our work for free (which was kind of hard back in the day), so we all set up accounts and moved here along the way.

$Heidi: How long have you been active in design? Where did you get your start?

¢a-r: I consider myself to be very lucky. I always liked to draw as a kid. I used to draw everywhere; it really makes me happy. One day I was drawing near a playground and my friend said, "You should work in publicity or advertising". I was only around 11 years old at the time, but that comment always stuck in my head. When I got closer to college, I found out that it was designers who were responsible for creating things and started down that path. To sum things up, I started graphic design at 15.

$Heidi: What do you enjoy most about designing deviantWEAR?

¢a-r: I've got to say, it's definitely reading comments on the product pages. It really makes my day! I love knowing that people like a design, that they've added it to their favorites, and I really love it when they buy something and are so happy with it that they come back to comment and post pictures. That's the real reward. But everything is fun, the whole process, especially when the whole Creative team gets involved.

$Heidi: Where do you find design inspiration?

¢a-r: Music, big brands, Firefox's favorites, and, of course, deviantART. There are a few guys out there that inspire me a lot, so it's always great to browse a little before you start on something.

$Heidi: What's most challenging about designing deviantWEAR?

¢a-r: Everything is challenging, from starting the design to picking out products and colors. But the most challenging has to be preparing files for printing.

$Heidi: How does it feel to know that deviants all around the globe are wearing your designs?

¢a-r: Gratifying! That's the best part of it all. It really makes me happy to see people enjoying what they are wearing. I love t-shirts so that's kind of the feeling that I want for myself and for people who are wearing it.

$Heidi: Do you have a favorite deviantWEAR product?

¢a-r: It's hard to say. I have special feelings for each. It's too hard to pick one, but if I have to ... the Fella plushie. Hah!

$Heidi: What do you feel are the most important skills for a shirt designer to have?

¢a-r: Having patience and never stop the learning process.

$Heidi: How do you continue to better your skills?

¢a-r: Pushing limits! I try to learn from design tutorials, by reading design magazines, and when I have time I like to take classes.

$Heidi: List three words to describe yourself.

¢a-r: Persistent. Organized. Loyal.

$Heidi: Favorite movies

¢a-r: 300, Saving Private Ryan, and anything by Pixar

$Heidi: Favorite TV shows

¢a-r: Lost, Prison Break, and Friends

$Heidi: Favorite foods

¢a-r: Fast food, Mexican and Japanese

$Heidi: What music is currently on your playlist?

¢a-r: A bunch! 4294 songs to be more specific. I like a lot of styles from new metal, to rap metal, to hip hop, and even soft tunes that I don't know how to describe.

$Heidi: One thing you can't leave the house without?

¢a-r: My wallet!

$Heidi: How do you relax when you're not working?

I wish I could say that I go wakeskating everyday, but I'm not really practicing right now so I'll have to buy a surf board. That's what I should/want to do on the weekdays. On the weekends I like to go out with my girl, hang out at bars, and sometimes we go to some concerts. Just have a good time with her.

$Heidi: Anything you'd like to share in closing?

¢a-r: I'm really happy and proud of where I am right now. Never give up on your dreams. Something might look impossible, but nothing really is.

It has been really fun Heidi. Thank you so much for this space and for all the support.

And I would like to take some advantage of this interview and invite people to make suggestions and critiques for deviantWEAR.

Thank you all!

Mad Libs Contest Winners Announced and MOAR!

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 24, 2008, 6:14 PM

Happy Monday!

:star: ::drum roll please:: :star:

Congratulations to =ProSI for winning deviantWEAR's first ever Mad Libs contest! =ProSI's winning entry, posted below, earns him his very own Fella plushie to have and hold forever and always.

1. Fashion faux pas! $chris and $jekor once came to work wearing the same shirt on the same day. Things quickly escalated when $spyed hopped out of his new helicopter wearing the same shirt too!

2. +gorillalure recently spotted Sally Struthers while shipping deviantWEAR packages. At which time Sally promptly told :devgorillalure to hand her some fella plushies to eat.

3. When stuck and in need of inspiration, $Waveswinger, $trowlandson, and $Heidi often turn to ur mom for support and guidance.

4. The Center for Disease Control was recently called to investigate the chocolate rain stains on $lolly's deviantART hat.

5. Fella Plushies have been known to have magical powers. Do not attempt to touch a Fella Plushie when it is watching anime (you know the fella plushie watches anime) or while it checks its pageveiws.

Special honors also go to ~adeer for being our first runner-up. As first runner-up, ~adeer receives a dA sticker Pack and would step into the role of grand prize winner should =ProSI not be able to fulfill the duties of proud Fella plushie owner.

$Waveswinger and I were really excited about the amount of entries we received and sincerely thank everyone for participating. This is just the first of many deviantWEAR adventures to come!

In other news, expect to see new deviantWEAR designs released shortly ... including one of your old favorites that is being reprinted! Wonder what that could be. ::dun dun dun!::

Thanks again and don't be a stranger.
